Texas building permits: Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin

1217 new homes were permitted in Texas's biggest cities in the last four weeks.

Each one is a family about to move into a house with a bare yard and no fence. We pull every new-home permit from city records so you can reach those addresses first.

How it works

We read the city's permits

Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth and Austin publish every building permit they issue. We keep only brand-new homes and townhomes, and drop remodels, repairs, pools and demolitions.

You search and download

Log in to search every new home since January by area, dates and home type. Download any list as a spreadsheet for mailers or door hangers.

Monday's new homes, by email

Each Monday you get the newest permits in your zip codes. Turn it off anytime if you'd rather just log in.

Where does the data come from?

The City of Houston Permitting Center's weekly sold-permit reports and the open permit data published by San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth and Austin. They're public records; we clean them and keep only new homes.

Do the leads include owner names?

No. The city reports list the address, the permit date and what's being built. That's what you need for mailers, door hangers or a visit.

How fresh is it?

Austin, Dallas and Fort Worth post permits daily, San Antonio every few days, and Houston a weekly report, usually 1 to 2 weeks after the permit date. We check every city every morning. See the details for each city.

Can other companies get the same addresses?

Yes, the permits are public. The advantage is speed: most companies never see these addresses until the family has already moved in and hired someone.
